Children from Reception to Year 6 are admitted to Hillmead School in accordance with the policy of Hertfordshire County Council. More information on the Hertfordshire County Council admissions policy and appeals can be found here. Nursery admissions applications are made direct to school - information is lower down this page.

Primary (Reception) Admissions September 2026 

The deadline for applying for a primary school place is 15 January 2026. Applications should be made to Hertfordshire County Council as above.

Nursery Admissions 2026

Applications for admission to our Nursery in September 2026 open on the 12th January. Applications should be made by 6th March 2026

Little Ladybirds Pre-School

Little Ladybirds is an onsite pre-school for Nursery parents to access their free 30 hours entitlement in the afternoons. The pre-school takes place in the nursery classroom so there is a seamless transition in care for the children staying on after the school nursery class ends at 12pm. It is also open to children 2 years and up. The pre-school is run by Early Birds and Night Owls - please contact them directly for more information and to book a place.
